The launch of Police Week 2017 activities in Gicumbi District was characterized by Umuganda to create a road in Rugarama Village that connects Giti and Rutare Sector. The handover of 117 solar home systems meant that all the 131 households in Rugarama are connected to solar energy.

The event was presided over by State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Germain Kamayirese, and attended by the Governor of the Northern Province and CP Emmanuel Butera, who represented RNP; Brig. Gen. Eugene Nkubito, the Division Commander, senior RNP and RDF officers, local leaders as well as about 4000 residents.
