On Tuesday, June 3, the Rwanda National Police (RNP) welcomed 223 students from three primary schools at the General Headquarters in Kacyiru. The educational visit aimed at getting deeper understanding of the RNP roles and responsibilities in promoting public safety and contributing to national development.
Students from Saint Gabriel Primary School, Rise to Shine Nursery and Primary School, and École Saint Anne de Kigali, along with their teachers toured various RNP specialized facilities, including Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB), Canine Brigade, Traffic and Road Safety (TRS) and Command and Coordination Centre.
They were familiarized with the various roles and functions of the police units, providing them with a practical insight into how law enforcement serves and safeguards the community.

Commissioner of Police (CP) George Rumanzi, the Commissioner for Operations and Public Order, who welcomed the students, highlighted the significance of such visits in fostering the development of responsible future leaders.
"This is an opportunity to educate the young generation about who we are and what we do, while also inspiring them to become standout and responsible professionals in the future," CP Rumanzi said.
The educators, who accompanied the students, characterized the visit as both enlightening and significant, as it sought to foster a connection between law enforcement and young people.

"This visit is a wonderful opportunity for the children and for us as teachers to learn more about policing in Rwanda. Obviously, there is a lot that we did not know and this gives us a better understanding about the Police work and how children can learn from it. We truly appreciate the warm welcome from the Police," said Chantal Bamurange, a teacher from Rise to Shine Nursery and Primary School.
The event reflects the Rwanda National Police’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and civic education. By reaching out to young people, Rwanda National Police aims to promote a culture of lawfulness, safety, and and bringing up responsive children.
