Rwanda National Police (RNP) remains on high alert to ensure a successful and incident-free Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) which is underway at different sites in Rwanda.

According to Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Celestin Twahirwa, the officers, as usual, continue to “conduct drills and rehearsals and ready for any eventuality that might arise.”

“Police officers are deployed at all CHAN sites, they are escorting players and so far there has been no incident that call for police intervention and we appreciate the way football fanatics are behaving as they enjoy the game, and we hope this remains the rhythm,” said ACP Twahirwa.

CHAN tournament is being played at four venues; Amahoro and Nyamirambo stadiums in Kigali, Huye and Rubavu.

ACP Twahirwa also reminded drivers to driver responsibly and respect traffic rules to prevent any likely accident that may result out of inappropriate driving like over speeding, using a phone while on the wheel and overtaking in dangerous corners and hotspots.
