Sixty-five Police officers, on Friday, completed two parallel instruction courses at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.
The fifth parallel intakes, which lasted for three months, constitute 33 junior officers who completed the ‘Instructional Technology Course (ITC) and 32 Non-Commissioned Officers in ‘Methods of Instruction (MOI) course’
The Instruction Technology Course covers syllabus and course design, test and measurement, micro-teaching, research technology, development of instructional aid, field trip and effective communication.
The MOI course looks at the general instructional techniques, micro-teaching, development of instructional aid, psychology of learning and effective communication.
The Commandant of PTS, Commissioner of Police (CP) Vianney Nshimiyimana, while closing the courses, said that training in Rwanda National Police (RNP) was put at the forefront to address most of the challenges in policing.
He observed that the two courses provide a firm foundation to the fundamental principles of theory and practice on organizing instructional material and the ultimate delivery of instruction.
“The ITC and MOI courses handled vital subjects geared towards creating professional trainers. We are confident that the graduands will spearhead professional training that will address deficiencies in RNP training institutions,” CP Nshimiyimana said.
“The evaluation of the courses was done through periodic continuous assessment tests, final examination and sessions of training conduct, their performance was encouraging and commendable,” he added.
He urged the trainees to put to use the acquired knowledge and skills adding that they are important in the dynamic training career.
The commandant also urged them to be defined by courage, humility, vigor, enthusiasm and discipline as the foundation of the force.
