[PHOTOS]: Police crowned Carre d' As champion

Police Handball Club was this Saturday crowned 'Carre d' As' champions after a hard fought 33-31 victory over APR in the finals.

The national handball league champions showcased an impressive display to stand high and to add their fourth trophy in the cabin this season.

Carre d' As' tournament attracts the top four teams.

In the build up to the finals, the sixth time record national league champions eliminated ES Kigoma beating them 39-22 to set their final encounter with the defending champions, who booked their ticket at the expense of ADEGI Gituza.

They made no mistake as they continued to 'fly high with dominance.'

It was yet another final decider match between the two teams in just a week. The two teams met in the last match of the championship, a week ago, which Police won 36-29 to take the title from the defending champions.

Last season, police lost the two trophies to APR. This year seemed like a season for revenge.

And yes! The last whistle in the 'Carre d' As' final proved a point.

The first half ended with 17-13 goals in favour of Police Handball Club.

Despite APR taking the second period scoring 18-16 goals, it wasn't enough to tilt the law enforcers.

Nine goals from Gilbert Mutuyimana, seven from Norbert Duteteriwacu in addition to six scored by Zacharie Tuyishime proved a higher notch to send the Heroes Day and Genocide memorial champions flying.

"The players have worked hard this season and they deserved every single point and trophy," said Police coao, Dismas Turatsinze.

Police won the National Handball championship unbeaten, a record they wrote for the third time.

Turatsinze also attributed the success to the support from the institution--Rwanda National Police.
