The Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign continued this Wednesday, December 21, across the country as Rwanda National Police (RNP) and partners engaged different categories of road users to influence behavioral change.
The all-out campaign, which resumed earlier this month having stopped prematurely in 2020 after 39 weeks, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic; seeks to influence behavioral change from road safety by law to road safety by choice and to ultimately by culture.

In the City of Kigali, the RNP and partners created new Zebra Crossings at different identified hotspots, and repainted the faded ones.
Across the country, Police engaged pedestrians including students, to educate them on how safe to use the road.
Using pedestrian walkways, refraining from playing on the road and using a phone while crossing, stopping to make sure that no automobile is coming from either direction before crossing and using the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic; are some of the road safety tips that were given to pedestrians.
Over 230 pedestrians have died on roads since the beginning of this year. Other 183 fatalities involved cyclists while 150 are motorcyclists.
