Members of Excellent Investment Company Ltd, a local private security firm, have been urged to be alert at all times especially on facilities accommodating many people and key installations.
Supt. Michel Gakwaya Mabete, the director for Operations and Inspection in the Rwanda National Police (RNP) department of Infrastructure Security and Private Security Companies, made the call on Monday while opening the four-day-training for managers and supervisors from Excellent Investment Company Ltd.
He observed that some security personnel are not observant and do not implement all required security procedures such as searches on entry points of commercial buildings as well as vigilance on key installations.
“Our country is developing very fast, including big buildings, technology and energy infrastructure, and most of these facilities are protected by private security companies. So, always be vigilant and that starts with quality and continuous training to equip your personnel with the required professional skills, and proper supervision of your staff where they are deployed,” Supt. Gakwaya told the managers.
The four-day training focuses on the role and responsibilities of a private security officer, patriotism, readiness at work, reporting system, guarding of key installations, counter-terrorism, customer care and client relations, among others.
It is also designed to enlighten them on Ebola, HIV/AIDS pandemic and other infectious and non-infectious diseases; surveillance and detection, communication skills, search techniques and use of security tools; stress management, fire fighting and emergency response, ethics and core value and discipline of security officer.
The training, which has been extended to other private security companies, aims at improving professionalism in service delivery and ensuring that standard operating procedures set by laws and internal rules and regulations are respected.
