Festive seasons are periods characterized with happiness in families, Christmas shopping and other merry makings. Unfortunately, these merry makings are met with misfortunes like road accidents that are sometimes fatal, robbery, assaults (sometimes violent), murder and other sexual related offenses such as defilement, among others.
As we celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ and the New Year, consciousness, vigilance and acting responsibly is vital. This is why this festive season calls for the highest degree of carefulness as you celebrate.
The most serious complication to personal safety especially this festive season is the attitude of not feeling the sense of self responsibility. Being alert is the most important thing you can ensure not to become the next victim of holiday celebrations or cause others to be victims.
Safety and security of your life should be your first priority at all times. As security organs are ensuring the community safety, let’s take this on a personal level to pay attention where you walk, live, see or hear. Be the eye and ear of safety and security; don’t let anyone be the source of insecurity, either in communities or on roads. Report a suspected criminals or reckless drivers. Don’t driver while drunk or let anyone drive you while drunk.
Define your end of year 2017 by being vigilant while enjoying your festivities with respect and minding about security, rights and beliefs of others. Don’t let your celebrations affect others or cause insecurity to others
Drive safety; be vigilant while walking on the road not to cause accident or be hit. Be involved and work with the Police in reporting any suspicious behavior to prevent crime, and bring wrongdoers to justice.
Let us celebrate and welcome the New Year 2018 in peace and security.
