About 350 students of Groupe Scolaire Bumbogo in Gasabo district were on July 10 sensitized on dangers of drug abuse and urged to play a great role through community policing to fight and prevent the vice which is rated high among the youth.
Chief Inspector of Police Jean Claude Kabandana, while addressing the students at their campus, urged them to be active in their anti crime clubs and to share timely information with police.
The school Headteacher, Prudence Kanyamibwa thanked Rwanda National police for involving the students in crime prevention as they are preparing to go for their holidays and added that the school strives to produce the true future Rwandans.
Community-based policing is one of the Rwanda National Police strategies to involve the general public in ensuring own safety in their communities by providing information on anything that might cause insecurity or illegal acts observed in their localities.
This effective approach has shown a positive impact in reducing neighbourhood crime, enhanced a mutual relationship between the Police and the public.
