A total of 296 police officers have completed the 18-week Non-Commissioned Officers’ (NCOs) Course, Intake 16, which concluded on Friday, September 18, at Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

The course focused on strengthening the participants’ knowledge and skills in security and public order management, police duties and responsibilities, professional conduct and other areas relevant to their roles.

Officiating the closing ceremony, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano, congratulated the graduates on successfully completing the course, urging them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in their respective units and workplaces.

“As Non-Commissioned police officers, you occupy a critical position in the chain of command. You are expected to lead by example, maintain discipline and mentor those under your responsibility,” CP Sano said.

He urged the graduates not to limit the knowledge acquired during the training to theory, but to translate it into improved performance and use it to positively influence colleagues and personnel under their responsibility.

“Do not allow the knowledge acquired here to remain theoretical. Transform it into improved performance,” he said.

CP Sano further encouraged the graduates to continue learning, noting that completing the course marks another important step in their professional development.

“The completion of this course should not be considered the end of your professional development, but rather another important step in your career journey,” he said.

The Commandant of PTS Gishari, CP Rafiki Mujiji, said the training covered police operations, firearms proficiency, public order management, internal security operations, police ethics, use of force and firearms, community policing, public relations and media, civic education, drills and duties, and military sciences.

Participants also undertook study visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Museum of Campaign against Genocide and the Museum of Liberation Struggle at Mulindi w'Intwali to deepen their understanding of Rwanda’s history.

CP Mujiji commended the graduates for their commitment throughout the training and thanked RNP leadership and instructors for their contribution to the successful completion of the course.
