Twenty six people suspected to be behind series of theft in Nyarugenge District including break-in and pick-pocketing were arrested in a Police operation conducted on July 16. Majority of the suspects were arrested in Kimisagara sector.
During the operation, four other suspected illicit drug dealers were also apprehended.
Chief Supt. Dismas Rutaganira, the District Police Commander said the operation was meant to break rings involved in various criminal acts in the district and Kigali city.
“Though we arrested these suspects involved in some crimes such as theft and drug dealing, we believe there other wrongdoers out there and we request members of the public to report them so that they can be arrested to face justice and further improve safety in the city,” CSP Rutaganira noted.
He advised the youth to form or join cooperative societies so that they can put together ideas to look for ways of developing themselves, and also to help them access and tap various services like finances and other government support.
“Otherwise thinking that through such illegal acts they will succeed, they will be wasting their time because these are routine operations against anyone involved in unlawful acts,” he said.
