Nyarugenge: Irondo members given policing tips

About 105 members of the community night patrol – Irondo – of Nyarugenge Sector in Nyarugenge District, were on January 25 given trained in policing to improve their security activities.

Vedaste Nsabimana, the vice mayor of Nyarugenge in charge of economic development, urged them to “ensure security not to cause insecurity.”

He thanked them for the community policing work and urged them to strengthen their night patrols against theft, drug dealers and gender based violence.

The vice mayor also asked them to value what they do and protect its image through professionalism and service delivery.

Senior Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, reminded them that professionalism goes with discipline, being exemplary and respecting the law.

“Effective response goes with real time information sharing; when a crime is committed it’s important that you share information immediately so that a suspect that could have fled to areas out of your areas of responsibility, is arrested and stolen items recovered,” Senior Supt. Hitayezu said.

While thanking them for He further urged them to focus more on crime prevention by working with the people to get information that might help to avert crime.

He also asked to them to act professionally in apprehending suspects.
