Nyarugenge: CPCs reminded of their voluntary duty

Members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Kimisagara Sector of Nyarugenge District were reminded to be exemplary in their voluntary policing duties.

The call was made, last week, during the workshop that brought together 165 CPCs of Kimisagara.

The training was organised by the Police and local leaders in Kimisagara to further enlighten them on the philosophy of proactive policing.

Assistant Inspector of Police(AIP) Esther Safi, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) for Nyarugenge told the CPCs that people expect a lot from them.

The DCLO urged them to walk in the trust community members have in them to fight and prevent crimes.

"The trust people have in you should be exhibited in actions reporting people you suspect to be engaged in unlawful acts like drug dealers and thieves, who make people insecure," AIP Safi said.

Illicit drugs, she said, remain to be the main cause of criminal acts, and called for strengthened vigilance and reporting dealers.
