Nyamasheke: Youth tipped on crime prevention

Young people should watch against participating in wrongful and illegal activities that may alter their future.

The message was delivered on November 18 by Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP), Emmanuel Mudaheranwa, who is the Nyamasheke District Judicial Police Officer (DJPO).

He had met 100 orphans in Ruharambuga sector, Ntendezi cell, where he sternly warned the young population against joining dangerous gangs that lure them into abusing drugs and using illicit brew.

“Some people pretending to be generous may lure you into ill manners like prostitution. They sometimes offer or promise you various things and in the end exploit the situation you may be in to involve you in such bad habits. You are to be vigilant and refuse such offers,” he said.

AIP Mudaheranwa also lectured them against gender based violence and urged them to be on look out for human trafficking suspicions and report them to Police in a time.

“Ignore those who may promise you job offers or other opportunities abroad to avoid being trafficked for sex and forced hard labor. Instead, you must report them in time so that you can save yourself and your colleagues” he said.
