Ernest Dushime, a resident of Nyamasheke district was arrested on September 27 in Ntendezi cell of Ruharambuga sector with two forged driving licence.
The two permits, in category A and B, were in names of one Daniel Sindambiwe and Marie Ange Ishimwe respectively.
Dushime, a first year student at Kicukiro College of Technology, is currently held at Ruharambuga Police Station as investigations continue.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Emmanuel Kabanda, Traffic and Road Safety spokesperson said the arrest followed credible information provided by members of the public.
He noted that some individuals take advantage of the ignorance of others to con them of their money by selling them forged documents.
He said forged licenses are easy to detect and warned anyone that could be holding a fake one or involved in forging them.
"The process to acquire a driving license has been made easier and brought closer to communities. Those seeking a driving license or any other road traffic related document should therefore use this to their legal advantage instead of using impossible channels," Kabanda said.
