Students of New life and Mary Hill Academy and commercial motorcycle operators in Nyagatare district joined Police in the area to establish and repaint road signposts as a way of improving road security.
The activities included painting old and establishing new Zebra Crossings in hotspots in Nyagatare sector.
The exercise will be be conducted in all dangerous spots in the district.
Inspector of Police (IP) Emile Habumukiza, the District Community Liaison Officer, shortly after the exercise urged students to always be vigilant when walking or crossing the road.
He appealed to them to always look at both sides of the road before crossing, use Zebra Crossing where they exist and not play in middle of the road.
He also cautioned motorcyclists against violating traffic rules which leads to accidents and loss of lives and property.
The exercise was also attended by headteachers and the teaching staff of the schools that participated.
