Nyabihu: Mayor calls for partnership against crimes

The Mayor of Nyabihu District Antoinette Mukandayisenga has asked residents to join efforts with law enforcement agencies to ensure their communities remain secure.

She also urged them to find creative means of resolving community misunderstanding before their escalate into unnecessary conflicts.

The Mayor, who was flanked by the District Police Commander (DPC), Senior Supt. Paul Byuma, was speaking to over 2000 residents of Mulinga Sector, recently, during a community engagement meeting to discuss matters related to community social and economic wellbeing.

She reminded them of their community policing rights to prevent crime in thier localities, noting that security should be at the forefront of their daily endeavors as a springboard to sustain the registered development.

The DPC, Senior Supt. thanked residents of Nyabihu for thier collaboration with police through night patrols and information sharing on criminals such drug dealers.

He reiterated the need to maintain achievements through ownership and driving the community policing ideals.

He singled out illicit drugs as one of the pressing security issues that should be fought by reporting dealers in their communities.
