Inspector of Police Marie Rose Uwizera, Nyabihu District Community Liaison Officer met with over 150 bicycle taxi operators operating in Mukamira, Jenda and Gakoro sectors and reminded them to be organized, work in an orderly manner and respect road traffic rules.
In a meeting held on November 22, IP Uwineza also urged them to offer good services to passengers and reinforce security in their business and communities.
He observed that some of their colleagues involved in illegal acts like facilitating, dealing or consuming illicit drugs and urged them to distance themselves and report such individuals, who tarnish their image.
She further appealed to them to strengthen their collaboration with Police in fighting and preventing such crimes to further improve security.
IP Uwizera also reminded the cyclists that it is also their responsibility to fight anything that can affect the peace and security Rwandans enjoy today.
She further advised them to form cooperative that may help them improve their welfare at work and help their family members.
She urged them to embrace and own government development programs like Umuganda and subscribe to the community health insurance scheme, Mutuelle de santé.
