It was all joyous at Gishari Sector in Rwamanagana District on January 15 as nine police officers from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Band Unit tied a knot in joint organized civil marriage presided over by the Sector Executive Secretary, Placede Nsengiyumva.
Addressing the couples after tying the knot, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda thanked them for holding a unified idea to jointly holding the event together.
He reminded them that as police officers, they should be exemplary citizens by living in harmony with their spouses striving to develop their families and proper upbringing of their children.
It is the first time officers from Rwanda National Police have jointly organised an event of this nature which was a colourful civil marriage.
DIGP Marizamunda pledged the Rwanda National Police support but added that “other officers should borrow a leaf from the group” and refrain from extemporary preparations.
The commanding officer of Police Band Unit Superintendent of Police (SP) David Kabuye also said that it is the first time the unit to hold a jointly planned civil marriage adding that the advantage is in resource sharing and minimizing costs.
