Ngororero: Local authorities discuss security mechanisms

Local authorities in Kageyo sector of Ngororero District met on November 3 to evaluate security status in the area and devise measures to deal with security challenges that still exist.

The meeting held in Mukore cell was attended by Police, village leaders and cell executive secretaries, among others.

Kageyo sector executive secretary, Jean de Dieu Mutoni appealed to village and cell leaders to work with communities in identifying illegal acts and those involved.

He further appealed to them to also sensitize residents on crime prevention and development.

“Security is the foundation of development. Consequently, there is great need to engage residents in the fight against anything that may threaten their safety and development,” he said.

Inspector of Police (IP), Claude Nshimiyimana, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), also appealed to the leaders to increase their anti-crime campaigns especially the sell and consumption of drugs including illicit brew and narcotics like Kanyanga, Chief Waragi and Blue Sky, he blamed of fueling other crimes including assault, rape, theft, child abuse, gender and domestic related crimes.

The participants resolved to invest much in increasing awareness against human trafficking and to tighten night patrols.
