Modern policing is all about partnership. It's a proactive style rather than the inactive traditional poling system where everything rested solely in the hands of security organs and Police in particular.
The Rwanda National Police, which is built on this proactive system, there has been conducting various anti-crime awareness campaigns in communities, the business group and in schools among others.
The idea is to equip them with skills and knowledge on what are crime is and to loop them into this noble cause to move together towards sustainable security and development.
Surely, this has worked. Criminals of all sorts including drug dealers, consumers, thieves, domestic and gender violence, those involved in subversive acts, have been apprehended and prosecuted.
The journey is still on; on August 7, about 150 headteachers in Burera District were also sensitized on crime detection and prevention.
Looping teachers is critical owing to the fact that they play a vital role in grooming youngsters into better and competent people this country desires.
Two hands are better than one; the few security challenges that still exist can also be tackled if we all put our hands together to share timely information on wrongdoers and abide by the law.
