Ngoma: Youth sensitised on ill-effects of illicit drugs

Police in Ngoma District have implored young people from the to desist and break away from the bondage of illicit drug consumption. 

Police says drug consumption has been the major cause of other crimes such as theft and violence.

Inspector of Police (IP) Theophile Ndayisaba, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) of Ngoma, while meeting the youth in Rurenge sector on July 4, reminded them of the continued role in the country's transformation process.

The meeting attended by about 1000 residents, was in the context of the 23rd Liberation anniversary.

IP Ndayisaba noted that the youth should live a healthy and productive life to continue liberating their country in various aspects of homeland security and development.

Flanked by the Rurenge sector executive, Emmanuel Nyamutera, the DCLO urged the gathering to fight against anyone who may want to cause insecurity in the community by sharing information.

He further urged grassroots leaders, who head community policing initiatives at the lowest level, to work with the residents and ensure its effective implementation.

He said police will not relent in its resolve to rid the country of illicit brews and drugs and called for public support for the campaigns to succeed.

The sector executive secretary, on his part, encouraged elders and parents in particular to guide the young generation towards the right path and sensitize them against the dangers of illegal conduct.
