Ngoma: Students form five anti-crime clubs

In an effort to further prevent crimes, students of IPRC-Ngoma and ASPEK, both in Ngoma District, on June 20, formed five anti -crime clubs.

The newly established anti-crime clubs, in the two schools will mainly focus on raising awareness against high impact crimes such as corruption, human trafficking, drug trafficking and abuse, and Gender Based Violence.

The students made the commitment to become active partners in crime prevention efforts, during the Police sensitization campaign held at the two schools.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Eugene Musonera,  the District Community Liaison Officer of Ngoma, while speaking to the students, thanked them for their commitment to fight crimes.

He reminded them that through community policing, it equally becomes their duty to fight anything that can cause insecurity by reporting people they suspect to be involved  in wrongdoings.

"Even your fellow students or youth who are addicted to drugs can be rehabilitated, so if you know one report him or her so that they are helped," the DCLO told the students.

Raising awareness to prevent new drug abusers and rehabilitating those addicted are some of the methods being used to combat the vice in the country.

Currently, there are over 2000 anti-crime clubs in the country majority in schools.
