Ngoma: Police recovers stolen electric cables

Police in Ngoma District has recovered electric cable stolen from the Rwanda Energy Group (REG) branch in Remera sector, last week.

The 23-metre cable was recovered on October 26 from a house of one Ernest Nsekanabo in Cyasemakamba cell of Kibungo sector, who is still in the hide-out.

Two other people; Saidi Safari and Habinshuti Habimana said to have been part of the theft, were also arrested.

They are currently held at Kibungo Police Station as investigations continue.

Inspector of Police (IP) Emmanuel Kayigi, the Eastern Province Police Spokesperson thanked area residents who provided credible information that led to the recovery of the cables and subsequent arrest.

He also warned against vandalizing public infrastructures and stealing of equipment.

“These infrastructures are meant to support community development and the country in general and vandalizing them means slowing down development, which we can’t allow,” IP Kayigi, who appealed to the general public to protect jealously such public facilities, said.
