Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of stealing a Rwanda National Flag from Bugesera sector offices.
He was arrested during a joint operation conducted by Police, District Administrative Security Support Organ (DASSO) and local leaders in Bugesera Sector, Nyange Cell, Agatare Village on 21st January.
According to the District Police Commander (DPC) Chief inspector of police (CIP) Jean Pierre Dominique Nkurunziza, police received information of a missing Rwandan National Flag and stamp from the sector offices by the executive secretary Emmanuel Tuyizere.
“Operations to recover the missing flag and the stamp commenced immediately” said CIP Nkurunziza.
The Executive secretary informed police that the suspect was asked to take a flag and carry it to the tailor to repair it, he took it and never turned it back.
“They found that the flag and the stamp was missing, they called Tuyizere to bring it back but in vain. So they called us, we intervened and arrested Nkurunziza after recovering both national flag and cell’s stamp at his home. He has been having this stamp for four days” DPC explained.
The suspect was an employee of Ngoma District, in Nyange Cell, where he had been serving as an advisor in Bugesera Sector and he had been working there for quite long.
In his remarks, CIP Nkurunziza urged to collaborate with Police by sharing information on time.
The suspect is accused of stealing and If he is found guilty, he risks facing fines and punished under Rwandan penal code.
Furthermore, the suspect was apprehended and taken to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) for further investigation on the causes of his misbehaviors.
