In a move to further fight and prevent drug abuse among the youth, Police in Ngoma District on September held a meeting with pupils of les Hirondelle primary School and sensitized them on the dangers of narcotic drugs.
The pupils were also shown different types of drugs like cannabis and kanyanga, the move was intended to make them have knowledge that would enable to report those involved.
Bosco Rusanganwa, the youth leader in Ngoma District urged the pupils to say no to drugs and be partners in the campaign to fight the vice.
“Drug abuse is very dangerous to your life. One’s set goals can never be attained if that person decided to engage in drug consumption,” Rusanganwa told the young stars to desist the vice and importantly concentrate on studies if the ultimate objective is to become competent citizens that would help to develop not only their families but also the entire country.
Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP), Jean Pierre Ndayisaba, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), asked the pupils to join security organs to prevent drug abuse by reporting suspects.
AIP Ndayisaba also told them that, drug trade and consumption are criminal activities which are punishable by the Rwandan penal code.
Chantal Mukarutesi, the Head Teacher of Les Hirondelle School commended Rwanda National Police’s continued efforts and commitment to prevent the youth from drug abuse.
He asked the pupils to adhere to the message given to them by Police and help
