Ngoma: Jarama residents discuss security situation

Residents of Jarama sector in Ngoma District held a general community meeting on August 19 and resolved to strengthen efforts against illegal activities in the area.

The meeting held at Jarama cell offices aimed at jointly assessing the security status and how to fight and prevent crimes in the sector.

It was also attended by Police and local authorities in the district.

Assistant Inspector of Police Jean Pierre Ndayisaba, the District Community Liaison Officer urged the residents to focus much in fighting trade and consumption of illicit drugs like cannabis, kanyanga and other trafficked and locally made brew and gin, which are said to be major causes of domestic violence and theft among others.

He called-upon them to tighten their night patrols and report in time anything that may threaten their safety and give no ear to rumours.

He also warned parents against corporal punishments towards children and urged them to monitor their children.

AIP  Ndayisaba called upon the youth to report those that try to seduce them for white-colar jobs when actually they want to traffic them for exploitative activities.

Sylver Ngarambe, who is in charge of Good Governance in Ngoma urged the participants to live in harmony and refrain from self-justice, instead lodge their grievances to concerned authorities and justice institutions in particular.

He also urged them to embrace government development programmes like the monthly community work (Umuganda), Ndi Umunyarwanda and subscribe to the medical insurance scheme, Mutuelle de santé.
