Musanze: Students commit to crime prevention

The Busogo School of Science and Technology (STB) in Musanze district conducted an awareness lecture on crime prevention and drug abuse in particular on May 29 as the school joined the rest of Rwandans to reinforce security.

Clementine Nyiranzabonimpa, the head of discipline at the school, while speaking to students, said though crimes are on the tremendous decrease and the country is enjoying safety, continued awareness is paramount to educate the youth on the dangers of drug abuse and their role in crime prevention.

The school has over 750 students.

He urged them to focus on their studies and report those who try to lure them into illegal and criminal acts like sell and consumption of narcotics and illicit brew.

He also commended the Rwanda National Police for bringing all Rwandans together towards the same goal of ensuring own security in their communities.

Superintendent Silas Karekezi, the District Police Commander urged the youth to set an example for their young ones adding that acts like drug abuse might cut-short their dreams.

He assured that the security the country is currently facing will be maintained, but added that there is still need to fight the few security challenges that still exist like drug abuse and domestic and gender-based violence.

Supt. Karekezi went on to say that security is nowadays a two-way traffic and that their role through timely information sharing is vital for sustainable security.
