Musanze: Police Officers, DASSO and CPCs benefit on Police free circumcision drive

Members of Rwanda National Police (RNP), District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) and Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Musanze District on September 21, benefited on the RNP ongoing free circumcision drive.

During the exercise which took place at the Musanze District Police Unit, beneficiaries were also got tested for HIV/AIDS.

The ten -day exercise was organized by RNP’s Specialized Medical Programme, as a move to protect its beneficiaries from HIV/Aid and other sexual transmitted diseases.

The exercise was marked by a foot ball match between Police Officers of the National Police College and taxi motorcycle operators in the district. The game ended 3-1 in favor of taxi motorcycle operators.

The Northern Region Police Commander (RPC), Chief Superintendent Dismas Rutaganira, commended RNP for organizing the event. He challenged Police Officers and the other beneficiaries of the exercise to play a personal responsibility in fighting HIV/AIDS pandemic.

He explained to them that, HIV/AIDS and other STDs epidemic affects not only individuals but also the country’s development.

“Development would not be achievable where a big number of the country’s population is infected with HIV/AIDS,’’ said Rutaganira calling attendants to fight the scourge in order to live a meaningful and positive life.

Superintendent Dr. Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Director of Huye Rehabilitation Centre urged the beneficiaries to regularly go for blood checkups and also shun anything that would jeopardize their health.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the press lauded the exercise and thanked RNP for bringing the free medical service close to them.

The same exercise was also on August 23, conducted in Kayonza and Rwamagana districts.
