Musanze: DPC roots for vigilance against lawlessness

The District Police Commander for Musanze Supt. Aphrodis Gashumba has urged private security guards to heighten their vigilance against all forms of lawlessness.

He identified theft and illicit drugs as some of the crimes that requires due attention.

The DPC made the call on September 10 while meeting about 150 home guards in Musanze.

He asked them to continue ensure that homes and goods of their employers are safe at all times.

Supt, Gashumba noted that people, who hire that entrust them with the safety of their homes and businesses.

“Security is a concerted effort; what you are doing supplements all security efforts to ensure safety and security. Operate in unison with other stakeholders to curb any forms of lawlessness.”

He said police alone cannot curb insecurity without the collaboration of stakeholders including private security service providers.

“You must be vigilant by reinforcing and tightening your supervisions especially at night, weekends and festive period, in order to minimize any security threats,” he said.

He asked members of the ‘home guards’ to observe beyond protecting only their business sights but watch out for anything that could breed insecurity within their surroundings.

The DPC asked them to remain professional and warned against loose manners such as drunkenness and laziness which maybe loopholes to be exploited by criminals.
