Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Wednesday, August 13, sensitized over 1,500 motorcycle operators in Muhanga District to prioritize road safety and professionalism in their daily transport operations.
The road safety awareness was part of the ongoing Gerayo Amahoro initiative, aimed at promoting responsible road usage, prevent road accidents and promote a road safety culture.
The mayor of Muhanga District, Jacqueline Kayitare, thanked the motorcyclist operators for participating in national development programmes.
She emphasized the importance of protecting public infrastructure, adhering to safe driving practices to prevent accidents, practicing good hygiene, and disposing of waste responsibly in designated areas to promote a cleaner and safer environment.

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Vincent Habintwari, who oversees motorcycle road safety operations, highlighted the crucial contribution of commercial motorcyclists in accident prevention and tackling challenges within the transportation sector.
He emphasized their role in promoting road safety and the importance of their cooperation to enhance safety standards and reduce road incidents
“Your collaboration and good cooperation will contribute greatly to achieving the collective objective of ensuring safer roads for all," CSP Habintwari said.
He urged the tax motor operators to perform their duties with purpose, provide quality service to customers, maintain hygiene, have valid moto insurance, driver’s license, visible number plates, and all necessary documents, while avoiding any practices that could cause accidents.
