Students of the Adventist University of Central Africa - Mudende have been called upon to strengthen cooperation with security organs in the campaign against crimes by reporting people especially fellow youth, involved in unlawful activities.
Chief Inspector of Police Claude Kabanda made the call on June 10 while meeting the students at their campus in Ndera sector.
The students include members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers Organisation, a group of youngsters that support vulnerable communities and conduct countrywide awareness campaigns against crimes.
CIP Kabanda commended the organisation for spearheading the campaign to sensitize and guide the youth towards the right path and teaching them Rwandan values.
He reminded them that their education and development dream can't be achieved if there is insecurity and urged them to strive to sustain what has been achieved and continue to prevent what can threaten their good future.
He explained to them that they also have a responsibility to ensure their own safety through community policing.
The youth pledged to continue being catalysts in government development programmes like umuganda, get the poor out of poverty and preventing crimes.
