A contingent of eleven Rwanda Police Officers left yesterday for a one-year peacekeeping mission under the the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast (UNOCI).

During a pre-deployment briefing at the force’s headquarters in Kacyiru, earlier yesterday, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, (DIGP) Dan Munyuza told the officers to make good use of their policing experience to execute their tasks efficiently to bring about peace in Ivory Coast.

He urged them to stick to the Rwanda National Police’s core values and doctrines and be good ambassadors during their one-year mission spell in the West African nation.

He also asked them to raise the county’s flag high by acting professionally and upholding high level of discipline.

The Police component in Ivory Coast is headed by a Rwandan, Commissioner of Police Vianney Nshimiyimana.

The Rwanda Police peacekeepers have been recognized in various missions for acting professionally and executing their mission effectively.

There are currently about 600 Police officers in the eight peacekeeping missions.
