The Mobile motor-vehicle mechanical inspection lane which has been stationed in Nyamagabe for the past weeks, will effective next week be operating in Musanze district to inspect vehicle in the area.
The lane will serve vehicles operating in Musanze and the neighbouring districts.
Superintendent Jean Marie Vianney Ndushabandi, spokesperson for traffic and road safety department said the mobile Test Lane will be stationed in Musanze and appealed to owners of vehicles to seize the chance to know the status of their automobiles.
"We are trying to facilitate owners of vehicles not to travel long distances to Kigali to have their vehicles checked and they should seize this opportunity to avoid likely accidents that can result from mechanical faults," Supt. Ndushabandi said.
This Motor Vehicle Mobile Test Lane has the capacity to service up to 80 vehicles per day.
The presidential decree No. 85/01 of September 2, 2002, regulating general traffic police and road traffic; stipulates, in part, that “vehicles not satisfying the set technical criteria will not be issued a certificate. Owners of vehicles using public roads without the certificate will be liable to a fine of Rwf 25, 000.”
