Mobile Station Police reaches out to Rulindo residents

Over 40 residents from Rulindo presented their complaints and reports to Police through Police Mobile Station Vehicle services.

The service - where a mobile vehicle combs remote villages looking for residents who wish to file complaints or report injustices - is exclusively extended to those located far away from Police stations.

In Rulindo, the vehicle packed in a market place in Base Sector, where Police officials recorded complaints from the residents.

The Director of Media at Rwanda National Police (RNP), Senior Superintendent Willy Marcel Higiro, said that most complaints revolved around land disputes and family wrangles.

“Since its launch in January, the Police Mobile Station Vehicle has been well received by residents throughout the country – and it enabled police services to reach the furthest residents who are not close to our or other national services,” he said.

The Mayor of Rulindo, Jastus Kangwagye, who was at the scene, commended Police for prioritizing the needs of the public and urged residents in the area to abide by the law and partner with Police through community policing mechanisms.

The mobile service has so far served over 200 residents since its first mission in Mugina Sector, Kamonyi District, on January 8.

Officials from the Ministry of Justice travel alongside Police officers whenever the vehicles head out for outreach operations, and provide advice and assistance to those in need.

Police has three mobile station vehicles that cover areas seen to be in need of the service with plans to increase the number of vehicles to traverse the whole country in the near future.
