Mobile Police Station Vehicle continues journey to Kirehe

Hundreds of residents of Kirehe District welcomed the Mobile Police Station Vehicle as it continued its mission to deliver Rwanda National Police (RNP) services to residents throughout the country.

The station vehicle which since March 18 began a three-day tour of the district has tended to over 200 residents of Ruburizi Sector and 300 residents of Musaza Sector - particularly those residing or working in areas located far away from Police stations.

Most of the complaints presented centered on land wrangles, gender-based families, assault, family neglect and asset disputes.

Police listened to all the complaints and sorted them out according to relevant institutions charged with solving them.

One of the residents of Musaza Sector, Shantari Uwimana, lauded RNP for initiating programs such as them Mobile Police Station Vehicle, which are specific to the needs of the citizens.

“For one whole year I never thought I would get justice. My neighbor claims that my land is his and has threatened me on several occasions. The police station is far away from my home area and I did not report the case, but today I have been able to report and Police is investigating my case. I am satisfied that it will be solved,” she said.

During the event, residents were sensitized about Police initiatives aimed at fostering peace, law and order, and urged them to cooperate in these initiatives through community policing.

“By partnering with Police through community policing, the peace, security and order that we enjoy will be sustained. Criminals must know that they have nowhere to hide in Rwanda,” said Senior Superintendent Urbain Mwiseneza, Director of anti-Narcotic Unit in the Criminal Investigation Department.

RNP partners with the ministries of Justice, and Local Government and Social Affairs so that all the complaints received by the Police Mobile Station Vehicle can receive adequate attention

Ever since it was launched in Kamonyi District in January, the Mobile Police Station Vehicle service has received and documented close to one thousand cases.

Police remains with complaints that are within its mandate to investigate, while the rest are channeled to relevant institutions such as the judiciary and local leaders, where residents can get further assistance.

Another very notable service that these vehicles are providing is education to residents on matters pertaining their rights and freedoms and where to report particular complaints they may be having.

Police currently has three Mobile Station Vehicles that cover countrywide areas which are assessed to be in need of the services.
