Ministries remember colleagues killed in genocide

The ministries of Internal Security, Local Government and Public Service and Labour and affiliated institutions dedicated June 20 to remember former employees in the three ministries that were killed in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis which claimed.

The affiliated institutions include the Rwanda National Police, Rwanda Correctional Services and Immigration.

The commemoration event started with a walk from the ministerial offices in Kacyiru to Kimihurura roundabout and back to Kacyiru.

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Anastase Murekezi who spoke on behalf of the three ministries, said the though Rwandans were killed, the Rwandan spirit remained alive.

"The Rwandan spirit has never died and its the same spirit that continues to drive us to brighter future," said Murekezi.

He said they are also going to support those who survived.

He also explained that the commemoration will be held annually.

Minister murekezi urged those who survived and Rwandans in general to always "remember, unite and renew."

He thanked the Rwanda Patriotic Front for liberating Rwandans.

Senator Mugesera, a former employee in the former ministry of works outlined poor governance, tribal identity cards, sectarianism, negative ideology and hate propaganda as some of the things that made the 1994 genocide against the Tusti

Fortune Mukakagatana, one of the survivors, in her testimony, said they used to deny them benefits like other employees.

Mukakagatana worked in the then Ministry of works between 1988 and 2004.

She thanked the current government for uniting and reconciliating Rwandans towards sustainable development.
