The Minister for Local Government, Francis Kaboneka has called upon residents of Bugesera to take advantage of water bodies in the area to boost their well-being.
The Minister made the call on November 4 while visiting the district where he met over 1500 local and opinion leaders, clerics and members of the private sector.
“Water bodies like lakes found in Bugesera should be well preserved and exploited to boost the status communities and develop the district," he said.
He urged the participants to help residents devise projects that respond to their needs.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, commended the work done by the participants in mobilizing communities against crimes.
He appealed to them to combat the sell and consumption of drugs, including, illicit brew and narcotics like Kanyanga, Chief Waragi, Blue Sky, Suzi,and cannabis.
He also urged them to fight environment degradation especially illegal cutting of trees.
He briefed them the nature of human trafficking and appealed to them to rise awareness against it and other crimes.
