Police Constable Console Birori is a member of the National Taekwondo Team; she is one of the players who won a gold medal during the Ambassadors Cup held between October 3 and 4 at Petit Stade in Remera in Kigali.
The competition brought together participants from five African countries, namely; Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
PC Birori in 60 kilogramme category beat fellow Rwandan to win gold after eliminating three other opponents including two Kenyans.
The two-day competition was organized by Rwanda Taekwondo Federation in partnership with the Embassy of South Korea.
The 24-year old martial art player adds the medal to other four silverwares in her career she won during the previous Ambassadors Cup, Never Again Genocide, Uganda Open Championship and the Gorilla Open.
“I am so happy for the performance and achievement,” says the smiling PC Birori.
“It was a stiff competitive tournament but I kept encouraging myself and determined to take on any player and it paid off, finally. I was really ambitious for the gold medal,” she adds.
Future plans
“I look forward to representing my country on the international scene, given chance and I am working towards that,” she noted.
