Masaka residents discuss on strengthening security

Residents and local leaders in Masaka sector of Kicukiro District has a general security meeting yesterday and agreed to join efforts to further fight illegal and criminal activities in the area.

The meeting held in Cyimbo cell was also attended by ACP Rogers Rutikanga, the Regional Police Commander for central and the district Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage among others.

The residents pledged to continue to be solution to the challenges in the area by identifying and reporting all those involved in unlawful acts and anything that can threaten their safety.

ACP Rutikanga thanked the residents for the noble act of maintaining their own security.

He noted that most crimes such as domestic and gender-based violence, assault and theft are fuelled by drug abuse, and urged to fight the vice.

ACP Rutikanga observed that the most drug abusers are the youth who include students, some of them who drop out of school.  

He appealed to them to be an eye to their neighbours and report families that could be having domestic conflicts so that they can be helped to settle their internal issues.

Mayor Ndamage appealed to the residents to embrace and implement government development policies to improve their well-being.
