Police in Karembo Sector in Ngoma District, has arrested a man identified as Donath Bangumukunzi for distilling and distributing a banned brew locally known as Kanyanga.

This was after area residents reported to police Bangumukunzi's illegal acts which they said was also causing insecurity in the area including fighting and theft.

Inspector of Police, Emmanuel Gahigi, cautioned Rwandans against the consumption of dangerous due to its negative effects to the individual and to the society.

IP Kayigi urged Ngoma resident to be vigilant and provide timely information to security shareholders and make use of community policing benefits.

“We should keep distance from such substances, and urge the young people to spend their time in a beneficial manner during holidays rather than consume alcohol that is dangerous. Let us all look towards building our nation,” he said.

When he was nabbed by police in the process of distilling the liquid, Bangumukunzi confessed, claiming that it was the first time he was involved in the illegal activity.
