Macuba residents give thumbs-up to improved security

Residents of Macuba sector in Nayamasheke district, last week, held a meeting to evaluate the level of security in the area and thanked the Rwanda National Police for equipping them with Policing skills, which helped them to ensure safety in their communities.

Macuba is currently one of the sectors in Nyamasheke with few cases of crimes.

The meeting held at Gatare cell was also attended by sector and district local authorities.

The residents also resolved to strengthen the community policing strategy, which they say helped them to be an eye for neighbours and an easy way of identifying and apprehending majority wrongdoers.

The sector Executive Secretary, Damas Uwimana thanked residents for being responsible citizens adding that this led to improved security in the area.

Charles Bahizi, the district Vice-Mayor in charge of Finance and economic development also expressed gratitude over the cooperation among residents and even their partnership with security organs and urged them to continue in that right path.

Bahizi appealed to them to tighten community night patrols and give no room to rumours, instead focus on their development activities.

He urged them to be life-focused, work hard, embrace and implement various government development policies and participate in Umuganda.

Assistant Inspector of Police Deo Mutabaruka, the District Community Liaison Officer, to identify drug dealers and always assist families embroiled in disputes.
