Kirehe: Families with domestic conflicts tipped on solving grievances

The Rwanda National Police ongoing visits to families facing internal conflicts continued in Kirehe district on July 10 where Police met conflict-ridden communities in Kagina sector and advised on how to solve their grievances amicably.

Assistant Inspector of Police Gahigi Harelimana, the District Community Liaison Officer, while meeting with the affected couples in Rugarama cell urged them to always sit together as a family and plan what will move them forward.

The meeting was also attended by area residents.

Most of the conflicts are caused by consumption of illicit drugs especially by male spouses, which ill-guides them to batter their wives.

Other domestic violence is caused by property wrangles.

AIP Gahigi warned them against use of illicit drugs and urged area residents to always report those trafficking, selling and consuming these dangerous substances.

He appealed to the residents to always identify and report such families so that their issues, which in most cases are minor, are solved before they turn violent and advised such affected families to lodge their complaints to local leaders or police gender desks and other stations so that they can be helped.
