The business community and residents of Kimironko in Gasabo district have been called upon to work together against illegal and criminal acts in the area and feed police with information about individuals and groups that could be involved in various crimes.
Chief Inspector of Police Jean Claude Kabandana made the call on October 15 in a meeting with traders operating in Kimironko market, residents and drivers, held in Kimironko bus terminal.
He also urged them to always beware of pick-pocketers and thugs who snatch people’s bags and steal things in cars and in the market, conmen and put collective measures on how to prevent such criminal activities and partner with police to ensure that such individuals are apprehended.
CIP Kabandana also appealed to the business community to be vigilant and verify currency notes from customers to avoid being conned with fake notes.
Participants expressed gratitude for the message noting that it has given them more light on their responsibility in crime control.
“I really thank Police for the message; we need to work together with security organs to prevent anything that can affect our well-being,” Mukeshimana, one of the traders, said.
