Kigali: Police hands over recovered electronics to owners

Police in Kigali has handed over an assortment of electronics recovered from thieves in various parts of the city, to owners.

The recovered gadgets include eight television flat screens, four DVD decks, two microphones, a DSTV decoder and six sound speakers.

Five people were also arrested in connection with the theft.

One of the victims Diogene Masozera Mutangana said thugs broke into his house in Kimihurura sector in the night of August 21 and stole a DSTV decoder, a DVD deck, an amplifier, six loud speakers, a flat screen, play station and two cables.

Jean Claude Tuyizere in Kagarama, Kicukiro district at about 5:00am.

Tuyizere is among the suspects currently detained Kicukiro Police station.

"I immediately reported to Police after learning that I had been robbed and I am grateful for recovering my equipment," Mutangana said.

The Central Region Police Spokesperson, Supt. Modeste Mbabazi said investigations are still ongoing to arrested all those connected to this ring and to identify the owners of the other recovered equipment.

"We were able to recover these equipment and to arrest suspects because of the good partnership with the public, who gave us information on their whereabouts," Supt. Mbabazi said.
