Members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Nyarugunga sector of Kicukiro district held a one day meeting on May 8 to devise means to further improve safety in the area and shift from fighting crimes to prevention.
Alphonsine Murebwayire, the sector Executive Secretary urged participants to implement all policies that are aimed at preventing crimes.
He urged them to identify families involved in internal conflicts so that they can be counseled on and reunited before their wrangles turn violent.
The CPCs pledged to improve on their work and to provide information in time on any security threat.
In the same way, over 350 residents of Kagunga cell, Gikondi sector also in Kicukiro met in Gashyekero trading centre to share ideas on how to tighten their security.
Assistant Inspector of Police Vedaste Habimana thanked them for keeping focused to ensure own security and urged them to always inform Police on anything that could threaten their security.
Nathan Kanyesigye, the Executive Secretary of Gikondo sector urged them to continue the spirit of towards looking for the solution to the problems affecting them including safety and security.
Kanyesigye also appealed to them to actively participate in other government development programmes such as the monthly community work – Umuganda.
