Three people identified as Idrissa Ndayisaba, 24, Egide Hakizimana, 28,  and Fabrice Nshutiyabato, 28, were arrested in Kicukiro District on July 23 for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The motorcycle RB 100R was recovered from the trio on July 23 in Amarembo, Nyarugunga Sector.

They were at the time trying to sell it, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Central region Police spokesperson, said.

"They were found negotiating with the would be buyer, they were selling if only Rwf1000, 000," SSP Hitayezu said.

The suspects are currently detained at Nyarugunga Police station.

After stealing the motorcycle recently, it is said that it was kept at Nshutiyabato's house as they were looking for a potential buyer.

“Police in Nyarugunga was notified by a resident, who would be the buyer after he suspected that the motorcycle was stolen," the spokesperson said.

"During the negotiations, the would-be buyer inquired to have a look at the document of ownership, which they failed to produce prompting him to clandestinely call the police," SSP Hitayezu explained.

He commended the vigilance of the would-be buyer and called upon the general public to "always be very sure that they are in legal deals."

“Timely information sharing is very paramount not only for crime prevention but also recovery of stolen items and to arrest suspects,” he said.
