Kicukiro: Security agents undergo crime prevention training

Police in Kicukiro district has embarked on training security agents in the district on how to work together to effectively prevent and combat crimes.

The four-day exercise started on Tuesday and will benefit 221 officers from Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO), and Reserve Force.

The exercise is also meant to give them more understanding on the responsibilities of newly created administrative security organ, DASSO and how it works with other security organs is security-related matters.

The first day of the course was conducted in Kamashashi cell and profited 62 trainees form Kanombe, Nyarugunga and Masaka sectors, who covered lessons in fire fighting, noise pollution, knowledge of laws, as well as community policing concepts.

Addressing the trainees, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) André Hakizimana, the District Police Commander (DPC) talked mainly about fire outbreaks, citing short circuits as their major cause.

He said that short circuit is frequent in buildings with haphazard electricity installations or in places where substandard quality electricity gadgets are used.

Participants were also given skills in putting out fire using various firefighting gadgets such as fire extinguisher, water and sand.

They were also given basics in crime scene management, as well as situations related to noise pollution.

“The Community Policing concept has been contributing a lot in the prevention of crimes and I urge you to continue your vigilance and good work,” he said.

He appealed for a continual partnership between all security organs in order to achieve maximum results.
