Members of community night patrols in Kicukiro district have been asked to put together ideas and double their efforts in crime preventive measures.

Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Butera, Commissioner for Operations and Public order made the call on June 20 while presiding over the official opening of one-day training of the over 1500 members of community nights patrols from ten sector in the district at Kicukiro stadium.

CP Butera, who commended Kicukiro for being at the forefront to ensure security, urged trainees to take lessons carefully to acquire more skills to help them execute their tasks effectively.

The lessons include role of night patrols, crime scene management, community policing and how to use fire-fighting gadgets to put out fire.

He observed that as a force partly charged with security in communities, they should strive to identify what is likely to cause insecurity and share timely information so that such incidences are prevented rather than dealing with consequences.

The district mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage also thanked the community security officers for the good night work and urged them to tighten security measures and prevent those who want to cause insecurity in their respective areas.

Ndamage also pledged to give uniform to all community security officers.

The night patrol officers, who commended the RNP for giving them more policing skills, also pledged to put into action what they were tasked to further ensure safety in villages.
