Fifteen students from Kent State University in the USA, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) on Monday, July 17, as part of their studies on peace-building.
They were received by Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo, the commissioner for community policing, who gave them an insight into the RNP strategies and the community-oriented policing model.
In a presentation, CP Munyambo took the students through the RNP history, structures, operations, partnership with different stakeholders and the public, community development and related human security activities, among others.
The students are in Rwanda as part of their "study abroad" programme. They are part of "Rwanda after Genocide against the Tutsi" programme offered at Kent State University.
Their visit to the RNP aimed at learning how it works with communities in peace building, both in and out of the country.

Rwanda National Police and Kent State University signed a memorandum of understanding in January this year to partner in areas of education and research.
The agreement outlines partnership mainly to develop academic and cultural interchange through mutual assistance in areas of education and research; development of programmes and academic exchange.
